I am Marianna and I have been working for Fundació Sigea for the past two months as an English Assistant and Ecotourism Support. I was born and raised in Brazil but I moved to the United States about four years ago. I study International Relations and Environmental and Sustainability Studies at Michigan State University. I am interested in areas such as international relations, environmental advocacy, sustainable development, and social justice.
Most of what we did here was learning about the Catalonia region and the importance of it. In addition to hosting activities at the farm and around the Delta Llobregat. I was able to participate in over five activities in which most of them were hosted at the Espai Agroambiental (farm). In the beginning of my internship I was just listening and watching my supervisors hosting the activities so when I got the chance to host it, I knew what to say. I tried to host most of them in Spanish so I could practice as well. I learned a lot about the natural spaces in Catalonia and I learned about the Catalan work culture and their lifestyle. Working at Sigea made me learn how to appreciate the unexpected and be ready to adapt to new situations and places.
In conclusion, I have been really grateful to work with Sara, Estrella and Javier and the others interns during my time here. I hope to apply what I learned here in my classes back home and to my future career.

Soy Marianna y estuve trabajando en Fundació Sigea por dos meses como una Asistente de inglés y asistente de ecoturismo. Nací y crecí en Brasil pero me mudé a los Estados Unidos hace cuatro años. Estudio relaciones internacionales y también estudios del medio ambiente y sustentabilidad en Michigan State University. Me gustan las áreas de relaciones internacionales, advocar por el medio ambiente, desenvolvimiento sostenible y la justicia social.
La mayoría de lo que he hecho aquí fue aprender sobre la región de Catalunya y su importancia. Pero también lideramos actividades en el huerto y por el área del Delta Llobregat. Yo pude participar en más de cinco actividades y la mayoría fue en el Espai Agroambiental. Al principio de mis prácticas yo solo escuchaba y miraba a mis supervisores liderar las actividades porque yo tenía que liderar después, entonces tenía que saber lo que tenía que decir. Yo intenté hacer las actividades en español para practicar. Aprendí mucho sobre los espacios naturales en Catalunya y sobre la cultura de trabajo en la región y su estilo de vida. Trabajar en Sigea me enseñó a apreciar lo inesperado y estar lista para adaptarme a las nuevas situaciones y lugares.
En conclusión, he estado muy agradecida por trabajar con Sara, Estrella y Javier y los otros estudiantes también que estuvieran trabajando para Sigea. Espero también aplicar todo lo que he aprendido aquí en mis clases de la universidad y también para mi carrera después de graduarme.
